Islanders eliminated from 2010-11 CCL

The Islanders were unable to repeat history with a win in Honduras, and earn a spot in the 2010-11 CCL Quaterfinals; as they were routed tonight by Olimpia 3-0.

The Islanders finish 3rd in the group with a 2-2-2 record and 8 points. Olimpia won the group with 13 points and Toluca (who defeated FAS 4-0 tonight) was the group’s runner up with 10 points. FAS from El Salvador finished last, winless with 2 points.

With the CCL now over, the Islanders can focus on the 2010 USSF Div2 Championship against the Carolina Railhawks the next two weekends.

USSF Div2 Semifinal’s hero Nick Addlery did not play tonight, nor was he on the bench; and Dominican striker Johnathan Faña did not fly to Honduras, as he is recovering from an injury he suffered playing for the Dominican Republic’s National Team in the 2010 Digicel Caribbean Cup last weekend.

Lineup Islanders:
Gaudette, R. Martínez, Villaroel, Emory, Horst, Alexis Rivera (Josh Hansen), Noah Delgado (David Foley), Nurse (Salem), Daniel, Gbandi, Jagdeosingh

Goals
1. OLI: 53′
2. OLI: 77′
3. OLI: 81′

Too bad for Puerto Rico, but as you said…time to focus on the Championship. Gotta beat them Railhawks!

Hey, by the way, rumors have it that Montreal is looking to steal Gaudette away from you guys for 2011.

What??? Don’t like that rumour. Is there a link to the gossip?

No link, but it appears two broadcasters from Radio-Canada said during a halftime show earlier this month that the team spoke with him before the 2010 season, and that he’s still in the team’s plans for 2011 or 2012. I guess the team has been talking, maybe negociating.

Does he have a contract with PRI for 2011?

Not that I know of. I think his last contract was for 1-year.

I’ll wait for more solid news before I start worrying about this.

Here is a picture of Gaudette and myself after eliminating the Rhinos in the quarterfinals in Rochester.

What the hell, why didn’t Addlery play?! This was the Islanders’ most important match since the 2009 CCL semifinals.

Addlery re-injured himself in the last Vancouver game (where he scored the 2 winning goals).

Addlery didn’t play tonight (Oct 24) either in the 1st leg of the USSF Div2 Finals against Carolina. He wasn’t even on the bench.
