Nicholas Addlery i da man!

The Jamaican striker is on fire! He has scored 5 goals in 5 games since joining the Islanders!

Last night Addlery scored 2 goals against his former team (Whitecaps) in the Islanders’ 2009 USL season opener, to give the 2008 Commissioner Cup winners a 2-1 victory and the revenge seeked by the Puerto Ricans after last years USL-1 Final loss in Vancouver.

His 2 goals against Vancouver earned Addlery a spot in the USL-1 Team of the week!

Addlery also had 3 goals with the Islanders in the 2008-09 CONCACAF Champions League (CCL).

The Jamaican sensation scored 1 goal in the 2-0 semifinal win over Cruz Azul (Mexico) at Juan Ramón Loubriel in Bayamón on March 17th. He also scored 1 goal in each of the 2 quarterfinal wins over CD Marathon, including the famous CCL semifinal clincher at San Pedro Sula, Honduras:

Nicholas Addlery (who was born in 1981) turned pro as the first Jamaican in the T&T Professional Football League, playing for Starworld Strikers in 2003 and San Juan Jabloteh in 2005. In 2006, he played football in Vietnam for Dong Nai FC (1st Division). He signed with D.C. United in April 2007, scoring his first MLS goal on June 28th, a game winner against the Colorado Rapids at RFK Stadium.

In 2008, Addlery had 4 goals and 1 assist in 27 games with the Whitecaps. In October 2008 he helped the Whitecaps capture their second USL-1 First Division Championship beating the Islanders 2-1 in Vancouver [we will forgive him for that...].

The Whitecaps released him in November 2008, and in January 2009 Addlery traveled to Puerto Rico to tryout at the Islanders training camp; finally signing with the club on February 18, 2009.

On February 26th, 2009, in his Islanders debut at Juan Ramón Lobriel Stadium in Bayamón, on the 73rd minute against the Honduran Marathon in the CCL the world went WOW!!!

In 2009, in just 5 games (only 1 official USL game so far), Addlery already has more goals with the Islanders than in the entire 2008 season with Vancouver.
